There are some who say that animals have no souls. Well, anyone who has ever owned a pet can tell you
that not only is this untrue, it is ridiculous. Animals, same as people have personalities. They can be happy and loving, and other times be sad and get their feelings hurt. More than any other reason, animals can love.
It is that love, I believe, that causes our pets to return to us after they've passed on. There are
numerous accounts of humans just drifting off to sleep when they feel that familiar weight on the bed of that cat or dog who slips into its favorite position. Of course when we look, they are never there, but they are felt, and their love surrounds and reminds us that they are not truly gone. |

I once had a bird named Outlaw. He was a Quaker Parrot, green colored with a gray chest, and blue wing
tips. He was quite a character. He could speak many words, and lived in a very large cage in my kitchen. I also owned three cats, and no they didn't eat him! I did have one cat named Mr. Cheese who would try though. He would sit on top of this five feet tall cage and watch Outlaw swing and play with his toys. Outlaw would often ring his bell furiously. Anytime, Mr. Cheese would sit there for too long, Outlaw would climb up the side of his metal cage, and bite Mr. Cheese through the top. Of course the cat would take off running, and Outlaw would ring his bell even louder. |

After having him for only four years, he died mysteriously. I never found out the cause. I had had him
since he was 2 weeks old, and even fed him with a syringe till he was old enough. He had plenty of fruits to snack on, and was rather fond of pizza.
He was a very noisy bird, and at all times of the day, and sometimes at night, I could hear the tinklingof
his metal cage as he climbed around or upside down. I still hear that tinkling. Even 4 years after his death, I can still hear him in the kitchen, sometimes rining his bell, and others making his little mumbling sounds, or squaking.
I am not afraid. He still is my little Outlaw, and I was the only person that he even liked. He would bite
anybody else that came near him. It's a comfort to know that he still feels just as close to me, as I feel for him. |
