The structure certainly is imposing, and I couldn't help but look up at all of the windows above me from
the courtyard. I felt watched. The two people in the last picture are my husband and my mother. |

After a quick peek at the gardens, we were ready to go inside. (Pictures are not allowed to be taken
inside of the house.) The first thing you notice when you walk in is the smell. It has that wonderful "old house" smell. I was very impressed by the many paintings that Bettie Ashton Brown did. They, like the rest of the house, seemed alive. |
